How to Check If Someone Was Released From the Escambia County Jail

To check whether someone was released from the Escambia County jail, search their name on Jail View with Search For set to Released Inmates Only (or Both Current And Released). A released record shows a status other than “In Jail” and usually a release date. To list everyone released in a date range, leave the name blank and fill in Begin Release Date and End Release Date.

Search Inmates

Step by step on the official portal

  1. Open the official Escambia County Jail View.
  2. Type the Last Name (and First Name if the name is common).
  3. Set Search For to Released Inmates Only. If nothing appears, switch to Both Current And Released. Some people are still processing out and show as In Jail for a while after bond is posted.
  4. Press Submit and compare the Booking No and Booking Date to be sure you have the right stay. A person can have several bookings over the years. The MniNo stays the same across all of them.

Listing everyone released in a period

Leave the name fields empty. Put yesterday’s date in Begin Release Date and today’s in End Release Date (MM/DD/YYYY), choose Released Inmates Only, sort by Booking Date, and submit. This is the closest thing to a “released in the last 24 hours” list.

Why someone might still show “In Jail” after bond was paid

Posting bond doesn’t mean instant release. Before anyone walks out, the jail:

  • confirms the bond paperwork (cash receipt or bondsman’s power of attorney),
  • runs a warrant and hold check — if another county, probation or ICE has a hold, the person may be transferred instead of released (holds explained),
  • processes any Pretrial Release conditions, such as reporting instructions or monitoring (Pretrial Release),
  • returns property and completes release paperwork.

That commonly takes a few hours. Releases after an afternoon first appearance can run into the late evening. See How long release takes for typical timelines.

Release reasons you might see or hear about

Release type What it means
Bond posted (cash or surety) Money or a bondsman guaranteed future court appearances
ROR (released on own recognizance) A judge released the person on a promise to appear, with no money
Pretrial Release (PTR) Released under county supervision with conditions set by the court
Time served / sentence complete The jail sentence ended
Charges dropped / no information filed The State Attorney declined to proceed or the case was dismissed
Transferred Moved to another county, state prison (FDC), federal custody or ICE — not a release to the street

If a record disappears from current inmates but you can’t find a release, check Florida, federal and ICE inmate searches and neighboring counties such as Santa Rosa.

Get notified automatically

If you need to know the moment someone is released — for example, as a victim or protected person — register with VINE, the free victim notification service. VINE can alert you by phone, text or email when an inmate’s custody status changes. → Inmate release notifications (VINE)

Picking someone up after release

  • People are released from the Escambia County Correctional Facility, 3080 N. Pace Blvd., Pensacola. The county’s facility page says bond payment and inmate property retrieval are handled there too.
  • There’s no fixed release time. Call 850-436-9830 to ask whether release paperwork has started.
  • Bring ID if you plan to collect property on someone’s behalf. The jail may require a property release form signed by the inmate.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if someone got out of jail in Escambia County?

Search their name on the official Escambia County Jail View with Search For set to Released Inmates Only or Both Current And Released. A status other than In Jail, often with a release date, confirms it. You can also call the jail’s Detention Division at 850-436-9830 to confirm the release.

Will Jail View show why someone was released?

Usually not in detail. The record shows custody status, not the legal reason. To learn whether release came from bond, release on recognizance, Pretrial Release or a dismissal, check the court case in the Clerk’s case search or ask the person’s attorney, who receives the court’s orders.

Someone bonded out but still shows “In Jail” — is something wrong?

Not necessarily. After bond is posted, the jail confirms paperwork, runs warrant and hold checks, sets up any Pretrial Release conditions and returns property. That usually takes a few hours. Holds from other agencies can delay or prevent release. If many hours pass, call the jail at 850-436-9830.

Can I see a list of people released from Escambia County jail today?

Yes. On the official Jail View, leave the name fields blank, enter today’s date in both Begin Release Date and End Release Date using the MM/DD/YYYY format, choose Released Inmates Only, and press Submit. For the last 24 hours, use yesterday as the begin date.
