Get Notified When an Inmate Is Released — VINE for Escambia County
VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) is a free, confidential service that can alert you by phone, text or email when an inmate’s custody status changes — release, transfer or escape. It covers participating Florida jails and the Department of Corrections. Register at vinelink.com by searching the person’s name and choosing Florida.

How to register
- Go to VINELink (or use the VINE mobile app).
- Choose Florida and search for the person by name or booking/offender number. You can get the booking number from Jail View.
- Select the correct record and choose Register.
- Pick how to be notified — phone, text or email — and set a PIN if you register a phone number, so you can confirm calls.
What VINE tells you
- Release from custody, including release on bond
- Transfer to another facility (for example to state prison or another county)
- Escape and recapture
- For state inmates, some parole and supervision changes
VINE depends on data from each facility. Don’t rely on it as your only safety measure. If you’re in danger, call 911.
Rights of crime victims in Florida
Under Article I, Section 16 of the Florida Constitution (“Marsy’s Law”), crime victims have rights including to be notified of release and to be heard at certain proceedings. The State Attorney’s Office for the First Judicial Circuit has victim advocates who can explain these rights and help with protective orders.
Safety resources
- Emergency: 911
- Domestic violence help: the Florida Domestic Violence Hotline, 1-800-500-1119, and local shelters
- Injunctions for protection: filed through the Clerk of Court. Advocates can help with the paperwork.
What information you need to register
- The person’s full name as booked (check Jail View for the exact spelling), or their booking number.
- A phone number or email where you want alerts. If you register a phone, you’ll set a four-digit PIN so you can confirm calls came from VINE.
- Optional: a second contact method, in case one fails.
What to do when you get a release alert
- Confirm it. Check the person’s status on Jail View or call the jail at 850-436-9830.
- Follow your safety plan. If the court issued a no-contact order at first appearance, the released person must obey it. Report any violation to law enforcement.
- Contact a victim advocate. The State Attorney’s Office for the First Judicial Circuit has victim/witness staff who can explain court dates and conditions of release.
- Consider an injunction. Injunctions for protection (domestic, dating, sexual or repeat violence, and stalking) are filed through the Escambia County Clerk of Court. Advocates can help with the forms at no cost.
Other ways to stay informed
- Court dates: follow the case in the Clerk’s case search. Court date lookup
- Transfers to state prison: once someone is sentenced to more than a year, the Florida Department of Corrections offender search shows their facility and release date. Florida inmate search
- Ask to be notified by the State Attorney: victims can ask the prosecutor’s office to be notified of hearings and plea offers under Florida’s victim-rights law.
Frequently asked questions
Is VINE free?
Yes. VINE registration and notifications are free and confidential. You can sign up at vinelink.com or through the VINE app and choose phone, text or email alerts. You don’t need to give a reason, and the person in custody isn’t told that you registered for notifications about them.
Will I be notified if the person bonds out?
If you’re registered and the facility reports the release to VINE, you’ll get a notification when the person is released, including on bond. Allow for short reporting delays, and don’t rely on VINE alone for safety. If you’re in immediate danger, call 911 and talk to a victim advocate.
