Editorial Policy & How We Fact-Check

Our standards

  1. Official sources first. Facts about the jail, fees, schedules and procedures come from Escambia County Corrections (myescambia.com), the official Jail View portal, the Escambia County Clerk of Court, the Florida Statutes (Online Sunshine) and other government sources. Reputable secondary sources, such as local news and legal practitioners, are used only for context and are labeled.
  2. Cite and date. Every guide lists its sources and shows a “last updated” date. The site-wide “facts last verified” date appears in the footer.
  3. Say when sources disagree. When official pages conflict — for example, older county pages still mention the former North “L” Street jail — we follow the most recent official contact information and point out the discrepancy.
  4. Plain English, no speculation. We explain what records and laws say. We don’t speculate about any person, case or outcome.
  5. Law is general, not advice. Statute summaries give maximum penalties and general procedure. They aren’t legal advice, and outcomes vary.

Review schedule

  • Monthly: contact details, addresses, schedules, vendor links.
  • Quarterly: all guides, including a statute check for changes passed by the Florida Legislature (new laws usually take effect July 1 or October 1).
  • Immediately: when a reader reports an error and we confirm it against an official source.

People, privacy and mugshots

We don’t publish mugshots, names or individual arrest pages, and we never charge to remove anything. Examples in our guides use fictional names or remove identifying details. Our search box sends visitors to the official portal. An optional live-search feature (off unless we switch it on) queries the official portal only when a visitor asks, and results aren’t stored or indexed. The optional daily booking summary contains counts only.

We made these choices because a booking isn’t a conviction, because Florida §901.43 restricts commercial use of booking photos, and because the official source already provides the records.

Tools and data

  • Search box — opens the official Jail View and gives step-by-step instructions using what you typed. Nothing is sent to us.
  • Status checker — tests the official portal at most every five minutes and shows whether it’s up, slow or down.
  • Live search — relays a visitor’s search to the official portal and shows the response, with the source and time on every record.
  • Optional daily summary (runs only if the site owner schedules it) — counts the official “BOOKED Last 24 Hours” list once a day. Counts only; no names, booking numbers or photos.

Corrections

Email info@escambiacountyjailview.site with the page and the correct information (and an official source, if possible). Confirmed corrections are made within 24 hours, and the page’s updated date changes.

Independence

This site isn’t affiliated with any government agency, law enforcement agency, bail bond company, law firm or jail vendor. When ads are displayed, they’re labeled and don’t influence what we write.
