Tips for each system

Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) - Search by name or DC number. Records show the current facility, sentence and release date. - Someone sentenced in Escambia County usually stays in the county jail for a while before transfer to an FDC reception center.

Federal Bureau of Prisons - The BOP locator covers people in BOP facilities. Federal pretrial detainees in the Pensacola area may be held in local jails under agreements with the U.S. Marshals Service, and they may not appear in BOP’s locator until they’re designated to a BOP facility.

ICE - The ICE locator needs the person’s country of birth plus a name, or an A-number. - An ICE hold on Jail View means the person may be transferred to ICE custody instead of released. Holds explained

Frequently asked questions

How do I find out if someone is in a Florida state prison?

Use the Offender Search on the Florida Department of Corrections website, fdc.myflorida.com. Search by name or DC number to see the current facility, sentence details and projected release date. County jail inmates who haven’t been sentenced to prison won’t appear there — use the county’s lookup instead.

Why isn’t a sentenced person in the Florida prison database yet?

After sentencing, people often stay in the county jail for days or weeks before transport to a Department of Corrections reception center. During that time they still appear on Escambia County Jail View. Once they’re received by the state, their record shows up in the FDC offender search.
