Escambia County Jail Bond Information — $0.00, NO BOND and How Bond Works
On Escambia County Jail View, check the BOND column in the charges table, not just the “Bond Amount” line at the top. Each charge can carry its own bond, and the total you need is usually the sum of the charge bonds. NO BOND means bond isn’t available yet, often until a judge rules at first appearance. $0.00 at the top often appears on new bookings even when charges carry bonds. Cash bond vs. bondsman: which is better?
- Cash bond makes sense if you can afford the full amount and are confident the person will make every court date. The money comes back at the end of the case, minus court costs, fees and fines, which the Clerk deducts automatically. Getting a refund
- A bondsman makes sense for larger bonds. The 10% premium is gone for good, but you don’t tie up the full amount. You’re also signing a contract: if the person misses court, the bondsman (and any co-signer) can be on the hook for the full bond.
Bond reduction
If bond is too high, the defense attorney can file a motion to reduce bond. The judge considers the same factors as at first appearance: ties to the community, employment, record, danger and flight risk. Documents showing a job, a home and family support help.
